AMT Theater has started 2025 with energy and gusto, the way we mean to continue for the rest of the year! Mary Lauren has outdone herself (I feel as though I say this each time, but it's true, she raises the bar for every show) and Something Rotten! Jr. is wonderful. It's cold outside and people are feeling weird about life, but they all leave this show with smiles and happiness, something we all need more of quite frankly. The super talented cast will transport you to Shakespearian times and have you guffawing in your seat, again, something we all need to do more often, a good belly laugh. There are still 4 shows to go, so don't miss your chance to start this year with a smile.
While there may be Something Rotten in our theater for now we will soon be Upside Down with our new musical comedy - Upside Down - opening in March. We held auditions this week and gosh are there talented people in this city. Having sat through a fair amount of auditions in my life I am always in awe of people who have the courage to put themselves out there like that, people who shine their light for all to see. We saw so many fantastic performers, (triple threats!) and we wish we could cast everyone (give us money and a bigger theater and we will!), but we can't do that yet and it hurts to whittle down the talent to the final cast. Hopefully next week we will be able to announce our cast! I am so looking forward to working with this group of performers, we always learn so much from each cast and good friendships and connections are made. I think this is the part I value the most, the connections we are able to make in the creative industry. Life is tough, but if we can surround ourselves with people who are kind, supportive and gentle then we can make it through the dark times and celebrate the good times.
So, here is to 2025, may it be a creative and wonderful year filled with good people and gentle times. We can't wait to welcome you to our AMT family, let us be your third home in this busy city.
